They are less about endurance, more about explosive speed and cutting down the time it takes to get from one place to another on the field. The best speed training for any given athlete is one that mimics the movement that they need to do quickly. For baseball, that emphasis should be on the takeoff; generating a great deal of speed from a dead stop – explosive power!
